According to the Hollywood Reporter, legendary horror director, Wes Craven, passed away at 76. The Nightmare on Elm Street director lost his battle with brain cancer on Sunday.

We all know Wes as the director of Nightmare on Elm Street and the Scream movies, but one of my personal favorite Wes Craven films was his first; The Last House on the Left.  My mom rented this for me when I was a kid and turned it off because she forgot how brutal it was!  The film has been remade and copied so many times that I've lost count, but the remakes don't hold a candle to the original!  You know it's going to be good when the tagline is, "To avoid fainting, keep repeating: 'It's only a movie, only a movie, only a movie...'"

But of course, we all know Wes as the man who introduced the world to Freddie Krueger.  When I was about five or six, I walked in on my older sister watching Nightmare III and no joke, I didn't sleep for a week.

So today we say farewell to one of horror's most iconic directors, Mr. Wes Craven.
