Roger Curtis’s 10-year run as president of Michigan International Speedway is over.  There was no replacement announced Tuesday. Joie Chitwood, chief operating officer of the International Speedway Corporation, will oversee operations at MIS in the interim.  Chitwood thanked Curtis in a statement for his service at MIS and wished him future success. Curtis tweeted, “Love the out pouring from fans. Will chat more soon, but let me clear 1 thing up- my dream retirement job is to raise sheep. No innuendo!”

Curtis came to MIS in 2006, replacing Brett Shelton. Under his tenure, events at the track have expanded beyond NASCAR races to include such large events as Tough Mudder, the Faster Horses Festival and the Michigan Wine and Beer Fest.   The 49 year old Curtis previously was also worked for ISC at California Speedway and worked for Richmond International Raceway and Watkins Glen International.
