Sammy Hagar has rocked many a guitar over the years, but the musician just had a new first in his career. While dropping by the Sunset Room at South By Southwest in Austin with Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, the "Red Rocker" was presented with his very first Flying V.

Hagar was gifted the instrument by Gibson and was asked for his favorite Gibson Moment of all-time. The clearly excited Hagar responded, "To be honest with you, [my favorite moment is] right now. I don't have a Flying V ... I am a Gibson guy to the bone. I play explorers and Les Pauls."

During the brief discussion, Hagar also delved into his past with Gibson guitars, revealing that it was Eric Clapton who first turned him onto the instrument. He also shared a story about his rather less than squeaky clean experience acquiring his first Gibson guitar. Watch the chat in the player above.

For a few lucky artists, Gibson is making this SXSW one they will never forget. Follow #MyGibsonMoment to share in the excitement, and get more information on the Gibson guitar models here.
