Elwood Blues

The Bluesmobile with Elwood Blues

A letter from Elwood:

“In 1992, my partner Isaac Tigrett and I opened a club in Cambridge, Massachusetts called The House of Blues.  We wanted to honor the great working musicians with a venue worthy of their efforts.  Plus, we needed a cool place to hang out.

Harmonica master Charlie Musselwhite helped open the joint.  Later, Charlie ran into his buddy, a radio producer Ben Manilla, who said he was thinking of starting a syndicated Blues radio show.

Manilla passed the secret initiation ritual, and together we conned CBS Radio into letting us have air time.  Hey, we even wrote a book!

So many great years have gone by, and now we’re with Dial-Global Networks.  There are House of Blues clubs across North America, and we continue to bring quality American-style music to the airwaves.

TheBluesmobile.com is our first website set up exclusively for the Radio Hour. We’re proud of what we have done so far, but there’s always room for improvement. Tell me what you think, and what we can do to make it better!

The BluesMobile Radio Hour has won the Silver Medal award for Best Regularly Scheduled Music Program from the 2007 New York Festivals International Radio Broadcasting Awards! The New York Festivals Radio Programming and Promotion Awards recognizes “The World’s Best Work” in radio programming and promotion.

If you’re looking to get your CD played on the radio show, visit us here.
If you’re in need of anything else, come Talk to Elwood.

Christmas Tidings from Across the Pond

What comes to mind when you think "Christmas"?  Is it nostalgic prints from Currier and Ives?  Cookie exchanges?  Drunk Uncle Louie?

For me, nothing says "Christmas" quite like this sketch from David Mitchell and Robert Webb of the BBC show "That Mitchell and Webb Look."

“Lend Me a Tenor” at The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre Opens Jan. 9

Hey, hey, hey!  I'm in another show at The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre!

Once again, it's a comedy free-for-all, with too many doors, mistaken identities, and yours truly as an over-sexed opera diva. "Lend Me A Tenor" is one of my FAVORITE comedies, and I can't be more thrilled

Australians Show the World How to Band Together in Wake of Terroism

Scenes like the hostage situation in Sydney are all too commonplace in the U.S.  We've become numb to stories of gunmen entering peaceful locals and wreaking havoc. Australians aren't used to such violence, so when a gunmen took 17 people hostage in a cafe in Martin Place, and displayed an Islamic flag in the window, some feared that Islamophobia would spread

Teach Your Children Well: How Quickly a Picture Can Spread

In my personal Facebook News Feed, I saw an image of a teacher's note saying, quote, " I am a 6th Grade Teacher in Oklahoma. My 12-year-old students think its 'no big deal' that they are posting pictures in bras or with their middle fingers in the air"
