Elwood Blues

The Bluesmobile with Elwood Blues

A letter from Elwood:

“In 1992, my partner Isaac Tigrett and I opened a club in Cambridge, Massachusetts called The House of Blues.  We wanted to honor the great working musicians with a venue worthy of their efforts.  Plus, we needed a cool place to hang out.

Harmonica master Charlie Musselwhite helped open the joint.  Later, Charlie ran into his buddy, a radio producer Ben Manilla, who said he was thinking of starting a syndicated Blues radio show.

Manilla passed the secret initiation ritual, and together we conned CBS Radio into letting us have air time.  Hey, we even wrote a book!

So many great years have gone by, and now we’re with Dial-Global Networks.  There are House of Blues clubs across North America, and we continue to bring quality American-style music to the airwaves.

TheBluesmobile.com is our first website set up exclusively for the Radio Hour. We’re proud of what we have done so far, but there’s always room for improvement. Tell me what you think, and what we can do to make it better!

The BluesMobile Radio Hour has won the Silver Medal award for Best Regularly Scheduled Music Program from the 2007 New York Festivals International Radio Broadcasting Awards! The New York Festivals Radio Programming and Promotion Awards recognizes “The World’s Best Work” in radio programming and promotion.

If you’re looking to get your CD played on the radio show, visit us here.
If you’re in need of anything else, come Talk to Elwood.

“Normal Barbie”

As a little girl, Barbie was the most prevalent representation of female beauty in my house.  Not only did my sister and I have a few dolls between us, commercials for the latest edition of "Barbie (insert new occupation here)" ran every break between Saturday morning cartoons

I’ve Lent Myself to “Lend Me a Tenor” at The Civic Theater

It's that time of year, again; the snow is falling, the birds have flown, and I've gotten myself mixed up with another group of wonderfully crazy-fun people at The Civic theater.  After two auditions, I have been cast as Diana in the Civic's production of Lend Me a Tenor, set to open on January 9th.  Once

Laughed Today? No? I Give You “Two Monks Invent More Art”

Not all "funny" is equal.  I might snicker at a viral video of a cat not sticking his landing.  You know that Mike McKelly's stupid puns get me every... single... time.

But my favorite kind of funny - the kind of funny that tickles every part of my brain - is intelligent, historically based humor (I'm looking at you, Eddie Izzard...).  So when
