Elwood Blues

The Bluesmobile with Elwood Blues

A letter from Elwood:

“In 1992, my partner Isaac Tigrett and I opened a club in Cambridge, Massachusetts called The House of Blues.  We wanted to honor the great working musicians with a venue worthy of their efforts.  Plus, we needed a cool place to hang out.

Harmonica master Charlie Musselwhite helped open the joint.  Later, Charlie ran into his buddy, a radio producer Ben Manilla, who said he was thinking of starting a syndicated Blues radio show.

Manilla passed the secret initiation ritual, and together we conned CBS Radio into letting us have air time.  Hey, we even wrote a book!

So many great years have gone by, and now we’re with Dial-Global Networks.  There are House of Blues clubs across North America, and we continue to bring quality American-style music to the airwaves.

TheBluesmobile.com is our first website set up exclusively for the Radio Hour. We’re proud of what we have done so far, but there’s always room for improvement. Tell me what you think, and what we can do to make it better!

The BluesMobile Radio Hour has won the Silver Medal award for Best Regularly Scheduled Music Program from the 2007 New York Festivals International Radio Broadcasting Awards! The New York Festivals Radio Programming and Promotion Awards recognizes “The World’s Best Work” in radio programming and promotion.

If you’re looking to get your CD played on the radio show, visit us here.
If you’re in need of anything else, come Talk to Elwood.

Roman Tombstone Found in England

Joni Mitchell famously sang "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."  Well, it might not have been paradise when the UK town of Cirencester laid the asphalt for a car park, but an archaeological treasure was hidden beneath, none-the-less

Great Moments in Facebook History: February 25, 2015

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I scour the interwebs to find the best (and worst) thoughts floating around social media.  Without further ado…

Here are the BEST Great Moments in Facebook History for today, Wednesday, February 25th, 2015:

  • I hate it when my fat makes me look fat
  • Why don’t the enemies of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles just flip them on their backs
  • Full disclosure, I will attend literally any event that involves wine & cheese
  • You know the fun part of your life is over when people around you are getting pregnant on purpose
  • LIKE if you still have to whisper “Lefty Loosey, Righty Tighty” to yourself
  • Ironically the only way I'd watch the 50 Shades of Grey movie is if you tied me to a chair and forced me to
  • A court date is still technically a date, right
  • What’s the point of making people like Paul McCartney and Elton John knights if they’re not going to joust

Spring Rock Festivals on the Way

Outside is sucktastic.  Have you seen it?  All the white... and cold... and grey... and... still-winter-thing that nature is doing.  It makes a girl want to crawl under a Snuggie with a box of Lucky Charms and a Netflix account until the thermostat reads 45 degrees again
