TV crews from HGTV's Lakefront Bargain Hunt were in Southwest Michigan recently filming an episode in Sister Lakes which aired Sunday (May 20).

The series, which features families looking for great deals on lakefront property around America, turns their attention to the small Van Buren County hamlet of Sister Lakes where a Chicago couple (no surprise there, eh?) is looking for some prime Pure Michigan real estate.

The new episode airs at 8PM Sunday May 20 and is titled Michigan Lake Escape.

Ryan and Lori live in Chicago with their two children, and they love getting out of the city and heading to southwest Michigan to enjoy its many lakes. Ryan and Lori both grew up near the water, and they want their kids to have that same experience of making memories and having fun. With all the great activities in the area, they think this location will serve as the perfect family retreat, and they're on the hunt for the ideal lakefront home.

Sister Lakes include 6 lakes in southern Keeler Township including Magician Lake, Cable Lake, Round Lake (which isn't so round), Big Crooked Lake, Little Crooked Lake (which is more round than Round Lake) and Dewey Lake which lies mainly in Cass County.

The homes featured are just outside the traditional definition of Sister Lakes with properties shown on Keeler Lake, Twins Lake between Dowagiac and Decatur and Indian Lake near Dowagiac.

The family settled on the home on Keeler Lake and it cost them $280,000, a um, ahem, bargain...according to the title of the show.

In a nod to Sister Lakes, the family was shown getting ice cream at the legendary Driftwood as they made their final decision on their new lake home.

The Sister Lakes area has some properties that are certainly not bargains, including this near million-dollar home on Round Lake.

The episode will be available to view for $1.99 on the HGTV YouTube channel.
