A company that builds snowplow and ice control equipment will build a brand new factory in Battle Creek which will bring 91 high-paying jobs to the area.
Battle Creek City Commissioners introduced an ordinance on Tuesday that would allow six different types of recreational marijuana businesses in the city.
New Holland Brewing Company was awarded $200,000 in financial assistance in spring 2018 to rehab the property at 64 W. Michigan Ave. and transform it into a brewpub; initial announcements said that it would be open in spring of this year.
The city says that in order to enforce the ordinance they need to put up signs at entrances and exits to the city, informing drivers of the distracted driving rules.
In Michigan, it's illegal to text and drive, but this ordinance also prohibits talking on the phone and "sending, receiving, and reading" any data on a cell phone while behind the wheel. Use of a hands-free device will still be allowed.
The City Commission’s agenda for their Tuesday meeting features a vote on the adoption of a resolution, that would allow craft distilleries and small-scale wineries in areas zoned for Street Level Retail.
