It was a magical season for the Chicago Cubs in 2016 winning the World Series.   They will begin to defend their title among 7 games that will be featured on the opening two days of the 2017 season.

The World Champion Chicago Cubs look to repeat next year and as the Winter Meetings wrap up in Major League Baseball the team has found their new closer.

One of the feel good storylines of the Cubs' World Series victory was "Grandpa" David Ross. He had previously announced his retirement after the post season was over, and then in Game 7 he was thrust into the spotlight. And has stayed there in the aftermath.

It is now officially the off season in Major League Baseball with The Cubs winning the World Series last week.   When the team finally receives their rings in the spring, there maybe some guys you forgot about that may get rings.

Much of the talk around the Chicago Cubs World Series run revolves around nostalgia - easy to do when the team's last championship dates back to 1908. Here's a way to celebrate the Cubs victory in an old-timey way by checking out newspaper front pages from Chicago, around Illinois and Ohio celebrating the World Series win over the Cleveland Indians.

The Chicago Cubs are the World Series Champions.  One of the high profile celebrities who was present through out the series is Pearl Jam Lead Singer Eddie Vedder.   A lifelong Cubs fan, he wrote an anthem for the team back in 2008.

In a previous post, I wrote that "what baseball does best is nostalgia". Another great example of this a Budweiser commercial that ran after the Cubs stunning Game 7 victory in Cleveland early this morning.

The Chicago Cubs are one win away from a World Series Victory.  Game 7 is tonight but before they won game 6, hall of fame wrestler Jake "The Snake" Roberts made a video to fire up the team.
