Gabrielle Montesanti may be based in Missouri right now, but she once cast her shadow on the sidewalks of the Vine Neighborhood. Pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing at the moment, she was inspired to write an essay called "I Used to Run in Kalamazoo," and it is filled with imagery that is once woefully nostalgic, and also haunting.

In the wake of Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland's death, his ex-wife sat down to pen a poigniant letter to fans about the man Weiland was, the father he was not, and a plea to society to not glorify his passing. Truly one of the most honest and raw essays I've ever read, I encourage you to read her letter, because, as she so succinctly says, "...
