After being closed when the Pistons moved to the Little Caesars Arena, The Palace Of Auburn Hills could finally be sold.

According to the story from Detroit Free Press, Oakland University is in talks to buy the old arena from owner Tom Gores and his organization.

As of now nothing has been finalized as the University has not confirmed the talks.  A Pistons spokesman would not confirm negotiations.  The Palace last hosted an event when Bob Seger performed there last year.

The Pistons played at the Palace until they moved last season to Little Caesars Arena in Downtown Detroit.

The team still uses the Palace for their employees until a new performance center and headquarters is built next year.  A practice facility by the Palace is still used by the Pistons.

Oakland University, which is 5 miles from the Palace, could use the arena for their basketball teams.  It would also be another concert venue for the school that currently owns the Meadowbrook Amphitheatre.

The arena opened back in 1988.
