One of the things you have to do when traveling the Upper Peninsula or Up North is look for our state stone, the Petoskey stone. But there are other treasures you can find throughout the shoreline that can make your trip worthwhile. One such find recently was made and it screams 'Pure Michigan.' Linda Forrester was in Charlevoix when she came across a piece of fossilized coral that was in the exact same shape as the Lower Peninsula:

The post which was posted to Facebook over the weekend had a flood of comments of people asking all sorts of questions including, "Where's the U.P.?" They said they're still searching for a fossil or stone in the shape of the U.P. to complete the collection. If they're able to find one in that shape, those two pieces should be put into a museum. Great find Linda!
