Three On Three Overtime A Great Addition To The NHL

This year the NHL has added three on three overtime to decide tied games.  Last night was the first of these in the league in the game between the Flyers and The Lightning.

I never really cared for shootouts.  It takes the team out of the game and makes the goalies and the individual shooters win the game.   The three on three added so much action it made for fun hockey.

The game last night featured back to back rushes and great stops by both goalies.  There was even a missed penalty shot before the Lightning scored.   This was just one game.   I hope this completely does away with the shootout.  They may still happen as they will occur if teams are still tied after the three on three.  It's a big improvement and I'm glad the league put it in.
