This summer will be the summer of honoring teams of the past for the Tigers.  Along with the new Hall of Famer's Trammell and Morris being honored,  the team will salute the 1968 Championship team.

According to M-Live,  the Detroit Tigers will have a 50th anniversary celebration of the team the weekend of September 7,8 and 9.

They will salute the team throughout the year but this weekend in September will be highlighted by a ceremony on September 8th against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cardinals are the team that the Tigers beat for the championship in 7 games.

The 1968 team featured Hall of Famer Al Kaline along with Mickey Lolich, Denny Mclain, Norm Cash, Bill Freehan, Willie Horton and others.

Earlier this month the Tigers announced that there will be 1968 team related giveaways throughout the season.
