The Detroit Tigers were looking to find more offense after Wednesday's 8-0 shutout to the Seattle Mariners, but one player brought his hitting shoes Thursday.

Tyler Collins provided three of the Tigers' four hits in a 2-1 loss at Comerica Park, starting off their 10-game homestand losing two of three to the Mariners. Collins would also score the lone run in the loss, scoring on an error by Robinson Cano in the sixth inning that would tie the game at 1-1.

Justin Verlander would put together another strong start, throwing seven strong innings and allowing a run of five hits in the no-decision. His eight strikeout also was the most since he fanned 10 on opening day against the Chicago White Sox.

Francisco Rodriguez (1-2) would take the loss, allowing the winning run in the ninth on two hits.

After 24 hits in the series opener against the Mariners Tuesday, the Tigers managed just eight hits in two remaining games in the series.

The Tigers begin a three-game weekend series with the Chicago White Sox on Friday night. Detroit with send out Matthew Boyd (2-1, 3.86 ERA), while the Chi Sox send out former Tiger Mike Pelfrey (0-1, 5.14 ERA). Catch the action on 95.3 WBCK beginning at 6:45pm!
