It is normal to see enforcers drop the gloves and fight in an NHL game.  It is not normal when a fight happens between two all stars.

In a recent game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Pittsburgh Penguins, All Stars, Steven Stamkos and Evgeni Malkin dropped the gloves.

Neither one of these players should be doing anything like this in a game.  I am surprised Malkin would go since he has had a history of injuries.  Both players have dropped the gloves before, Stamkos last year and Malkin in December of 2017.

According to TSN, the Lightning were down 4-0 in the 3rd period when this fight went down.  I would guess that Stamkos, being the team captain, was trying to energize his team.

It must of fired them up as the Lightning ended up scoring twice but still lost to the Penguins 4-2.

It is fun to watch these guys go at it but if I was a fan of either team I would of been a bit upset if either left the game.
