Of course the most congested highways in Michigan are in Metro Detroit. Leaving Motown, where else in Michigan will you find congested roadways? The 2-lane section of I-94 between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek likely comes to mind.

Even though that section of I-94 near Galesburg is known for heavy traffic and congestion, it's not the worst spot for traffic in Michigan outside of Detroit.

That honor goes to US 23 between Ann Arbor and Brighton. The Michigan Department of Transporation says what should be a 20 minute drive turns into a hour or more during rush hours.

To alleviate the problem, the state is deploying something that's not been done anywhere else in Michigan, a Flex Route. That means there will be changes in open lanes and shoulders based on traffic conditions.

The project is scheduled for 2017.
