The year-end lists keep coming your way with our picks for the 10 Best Metal Albums of 2016!

Everyone seems to be hating on 2016, but between extreme political divisiveness and a plague of beloved entertainers losing their lives, there was some great music to cushion the blows. Three bands out of thrash’s Big 4 released new albums… and they were all good! Two of them made our Top 10, so check out the video above to see which ones.

In 2016, we sadly had to come to terms with The Dillinger Escape Plan calling it quits. One of metal and hardcore’s all-time most innovative acts may never release another album, but if Dissociation is Dillinger’s last, it was a phenomenal way to bow out. You’ll see DEP high up on our list.

Devin Townsend had a brilliant year in 2016, giving fans perhaps the best effort from The Devin Townsend Project to date, Transcendence. In one of Devy’s most collaborative efforts ever, the musician created another album unlike any of his contemporaries. Created to combat the ugliness in the world, DEP wrote something truly beautiful during a time when it was desperately needed.
