Chicago Recommends Avoiding Travel to Michigan in New Order

If you travel from Chicago to Michigan, here's what you must do before you can return home to the Windy City.

An updated emergency travel order goes into effect Friday, November 13th in Chicago.  They've added multiple states with different rules depending on their Covid-19 infection level.  You'll see on the interactive map below (as of 11/13/20) Michigan is currently averaging 45.2 new daily infections per 100,000 residents and is color coded orange.  Using data from the City of Chicago along with the updated order, this is what Chicago residents must do before they come back home after visiting Michigan,

Either quarantine for 14 days or test negative no more than 72 hours before arrival in Chicago.

Indiana is red, not because of politics or IU football, but because the state is currently averaging an astounding 60.3 new daily infections per 100,000 residents.  If a Chicago resident travels to Indiana they are required to quarantine for 14-days before returning.

That leaves everyone with important questions.  How will they know if someone does not quarantine?  If someone doesn't follow the rules, what are the repercussions?  Also, how on earth will this be enforced?  That's something that the Chicago Tribune addressed,

The order is generally not being enforced aside from signs and billboards telling people that they must self-quarantine. Violators are subject to fines of $100 to $500 per day, up to $7,000.

As of November 10th, 2020, Illinois had 511,183 total Covid-19 cases and 10,289 total deaths and counting.
