Former USA Women’s Hockey Player To Help Call Red Wings Game
If you watched any of the recent Women's Hockey tournament at the Winter Olympics you heard AJ Mleczko. She is getting the chance to be apart of an upcoming Red Wings NHL game.
According to the story from Associated Press, the former USA Women's hockey player will do color analysis for NBC for an upcoming NHL game between the Red Wings and the Boston Bruins.
Mleczko was apart of the coverage for the recent Women's Gold medal hockey game between the United States and Canada. She called the game with Kenny Albert and Pierre McGuire.
There hasn't been too many women calling NHL games over the years but it is cool to finally see some women get a chance. Mleczko follows Cammi Granato, who did some work for NBC in 06-07 and Cassie Campbell- Pascall, who works for Sportsnet in Canada and was the first woman to do color for "Hockey Night In Canada".
It will be interesting to see how she does with the NHL coverage and if she will get the chance to do more NHL games in the future. You can check out the game when AJ joins the coverage for the Red Wings and Bruins on NBC Sports on March 6th.
