The Army Corp of Engineers warns major renovations costing millions are needed to save this Lake Michigan landmark.

This Pure Michigan signal is showing its age. Built in 1839, the lighthouse, pier and catwalk located in Grand Haven are all in need of structural repair.

Ice, wind and waves have chipped away at the surfaces over the decades and rehabilitation and reconstruction has become imperative.

The Army Corp of Engineers will close the beacon and breakwater in August to begin the necessary work with completion and reopening slated for sometime in 2017.
