The Michigan State Police are now attempting to track down those responsible for a home invasion in the Coldwater area early Wednesday morning.

The MSP Marshall Post, Coldwater Detachment says around 12:30am March 28, three suspects broke into a home on Burlew Rd. in Branch County's Algansee Township. They tried to get in through the front door, and also broke multiple windows.

Police say the homeowners "attempted to protect themselves" by firing several gunshots at the suspects, which caused them to flee the area in a dark green four-door sedan. The vehicle is described as possibly being a Mercury Marquis or Ford Crown Victoria.

Shortly after the home invasion, a suspect was dropped off at a Coldwater area hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound described as "superficial" and non-life threatening. Whoever dropped off the suspect at the hospital quickly left.

The Michigan State Police is now seeking information regarding this crime, and they ask anyone who has information to get in contact with them.
