Many Michigan drivers have lost their licenses for a number of reasons, as we know a number of traffic violations result in points being applied to your license and after so many, you lose your license. There are also other offenses like DUIs that may result in a loss of license regardless of how many points you have or don't have on your license.

A new program was invented due to the number of Michigan residents without licenses for a number of smaller violations like speeding, parking violations, small fender benders, and more. The Road to Restoration program will pair Michigan Department of State workers with drivers one-on-one so they can go over the steps to reinstate their license and will take place in various cities throughout the state all year.

The Road to Restoration program will be a very helpful program for many Michiganders, but it is not a guaranteed program as they placed the following disclaimer in their press release:

DISCLAIMER: Road to Restoration is not an expungement clinic and license reinstatement is not guaranteed. Reinstatement is assessed on an individual basis in accordance with state law.

So, basically, it is not a "line up and get your license back" affair, but instead is a place for many to come and find out the necessary steps to take to reinstate their license and where they can find help if they need it.

There will be clinics in Saginaw, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Downriver, Alpena, Mt Pleasant, and twice in Detroit. There will be others, but they don't have information up on those other than their locations, which can be found below.

All of the clinics will take place in their respective cities at different locations, but registration is encouraged. Registering before the event locks in an appointment with a representative but walk-in appointments will be available for a certain time frame but will take a back burner to registered appointments.

Where In West Michigan?

Over the next three months, the group will have their clinics in Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Kalamazoo in that respective order. All registration links close two days prior to the clinic or once the pre-registration has reached capacity. These three clinics are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for Kalamazoo which closes at 5 p.m, walk-ins are accepted at all locations from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. only.

The Grand Rapids clinic will take place on March 22nd at LifeQuest Urban Outreach on Fisk Road. Lansing's clinic will take place on April 12th at The Union Missionary Baptist Church on MLK Blvd wit. Kalamazoo's clinic will be May 12th at Mt Zion Baptist Church on Roberson St.
