Over the weekend the heroes of several West Michigan Fire Departments put their lives on the line to help human and animal kind. An early morning house fire in Muskegon called in the Egleston, Moreland, Fruitport and Muskegon Township fire departments.

According to a post from Pound Buddies in Muskegon, as fire fighters battled to contain the blaze and get everyone inside the home out, they were notified that 5 puppies that were inside, had yet to be accounted for.

That's when one of the firefighters heard the cries of one puppy, and rushed to get them out before it was too late.

When they found the puppies, only one was awake and crying. The other four were unresponsive. That's when they leaped into action, to get oxygen to the four puppies who were struggling. Then, afterwards they stayed in the emergency vehicle to stay warm while fire fighters continued to battle the blaze.

Thanks to the heroic actions of those fire fighters, this family (and their pups) are alive and safe today. The folks at Pound Buddies said it the best:

How do we even express enough gratitude to the incredible men and women who not only keep US safe ...but have the expertise to save the lives of our pets as well? You are all truly amazing and we want to thank the departments of Egleston, Moorland, Fruitport and the Township for saving these puppies this morning!

You can share your thoughts and thanks to the firefighters on the facebook post that Pound Buddies made over the weekend to share the news.

Thank you to these heroes for reminding us that they give it all, to save us all.
