Now is your chance to step back into rock and roll history, and all you need to do is take a country cruise to Hickory Corners. Janis Joplin’s psychedelic painted 1964 Porsche will be on display at the Gilmore Car Museum, beginning October 1st.

According to MLive .Com, Joplin drove the car daily in the San Francisco Bay area and fans that recognized it would leave notes for her under its windshield wipers. If you want to view this rock relic, you better hurry, because it’s only on display for 10 days at the museum, located in Hickory Corners.

Joplin bought the used Porsche in 1968 and had it painted in a psychedelic rendering of landscapes, birds, floating eyes and your basic magic mushrooms. Perhaps she was inspired to paint the car from rubbing shoulders with the legendary Ken Kesey and the Pranksters, who painted a 1939 International Harvester school bus in DayGlo colors and named it “Further”. They were also a major influence in the Bay Area psychedelic scene.

She only had the opportunity to drive the car for two years, because she died in 1970, at the age of 27, in a hotel in Hollywood, California. The car was found parked in the hotels garage.

Her brother and sister inherited the Porsche and drove it for 30-years before selling it in 2015 at Sotheby's Auction for $1.7 million.

This may be your chance in a lifetime to view some rock history and perhaps it will bring back some memories..or nightmares.
