A long-standing building once at the center for village life in Paw Paw has been demolished. The wrecking ball took its first swing at the Paw Paw Shopping Center recently.

The Paw Paw Shopping Center was home to a grocery store until 2007 and has largely sat vacant for nearly a decade.

According to the I Miss the Paw Paw Shopping Center Facebook page, the center was run by the Imus family through its history with matriarch Linda Imus saying,

This was our business, but even as a customer.....I miss the store so much. It was a one of a kind place to shop, and even now, 3 years after it closed it's doors....I have not found a grocery store where I feel at "home".

Housing and retail space is expected to replace the shopping center.
