Known As Cereal City U.S.A, Battle Creek has been home to some prolific entities, from American abolitionist and women’s rights activist, Sojourner Truth, to former Bass player for Metallica Jason Newstead, up to WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam, the city is cultured with history ranging from politics to entertainment. Most notably, it is home to the Kellogg Cereal Company and hosts the annual Cereal Fest event.
Battle Creek also has a rich place in sports and entertainment, having their own team a part of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League for two years and is home to the Northwoods League’s Battle Creek Bombers. The city also had a CBS show named after it which aired in 2015.
Battle Creek has a prominent military presence as well, being home to the Fort Custer Training Center of the Michigan National Guard bordering the recreation area. It’s also home to the Binder Park Zoo, showing that Battle Creek really does have something for everybody.
