It's like a once in a lifetime day today. 2-22-22 is the date, and I screwed up. I want to apologize to all local beer drinkers, and mostly, to one of craft beers' patron saints, Larry Bell.

A tweet from Bell's does remind us that Oberon Day is March 21st this year.

In a shocking announcement Wednesday afternoon, Larry Bell said he'll be retiring and selling his eponymous brewery to Australian brewer Lion, which two years ago bought New Belgium Brewing in Colorado.

It's the final month of summer, which if you believe some surveys, hasn't lived up to many people's expectations. But the brewmasters at Bell's have something new for you to try. It's a new wheat beer named Rind over Matter.

There are acts of kindness and generosity everywhere, and many don't get widely recognized, but here's one that will be. And, in fact, it's a win-win. Thursday, July 29th is National Chicken Wing Day, and for the second year in a row, Bell's will be raising awareness about the problem of hunger among the nation’s seniors.

Larry Bell, founder of Bell's Brewery, recently found a bottle of beer he brewed in 1987, "while rooting around the cellar". And he gave it a sip. And his reaction might surprise you.

The latest beer in the Bell's Celebration Series has been released in conjunction with the newly established Juneteenth federal holiday

It's not always about beer, here in Kalamazoo. Well, maybe it is, but if you have a home bar in your rec room, or if you simply collect cool items, Bell's has released their 2021 "Mini Kegs for Causes" collection.

A couple of big releases coming for local beer drinkers in the coming days. The obvious one is Oberon Day is Monday, March 22nd. But a beer released this past holiday season as part of a holiday pack, is coming back for wider release and distribution.

First things first, though. You have to love a press release that starts with "Two flamingos walk into a bar..." But the news being released is that Bell's has brought back Flamingo Fruit Fight, but brought it back in five variations.
