Springfield, Illinois. Out on the northeast side of town, along Dirksen Parkway, was the Fleetwood Restaurant. It's far from fancy, but as with most of these kind of places, it's got good food. And the Fleetwood's specialty is "broasted" chicken. It's moist, not greasy, seasoned just right. Darn near perfect; even the chicken breasts. So good, I still remember it 40 years later.

It's happened in Kalamazoo and is happening in Battle Creek. Now get ready for a replay of the same on Thursday in Traverse City as Chick-fil-A opens its first Northern Michigan store. The location at 2700 N US Highway 31 has the Chick-fil-A market all to itself, as it's some 140 or so miles from the next nearest location.

The owner of Battle Creek's Chick-fil-A says the restaurant should be open by the end of winter.

After years of speculation and rumor, it now looks like Chick-fil-A is officially planning to open a location in Battle Creek.

The new Kalamazoo Chick-fil-a broke from tradition and hooked up healthcare workers instead the first 100 people at the restaurant.
