Project Pocketwatch

Having very short hair for a very long time, it's understandable that I would forget how thick my hair is when it grows out. Since part of my year-long spending fast is "no haircuts," I have been forced to deal with the many horrible stages of growing my hair out...

Now that I am two-and-a-half months in to Project Pocketwatch, my year of needs-based spending, I am getting emails from friends asking what they need to know before starting a Spending Fast of their own. They've seen my success and they want in on it...

Since starting my spending fast on March 1st, I have hit a few bumps.  Not MAJOR bumps, mind you, just a few things that I didn't factor in to my preparation before the fast began. I've finagled my way around them; borrowing what I need from friends, offering to do odd jobs in exchange for things, or even taking yarn donations (thanks, Heather, Zondra, and Kimberly), instead of using my allowance.

Have you ever been standing in the aisle at your favorite store comparing prices and thinking "I'm sure I could get this cheaper at that other place." When it comes to basics, it pays to know where to get the best bang for your buck. I personally visited four stores in Southwest Michigan, Walmart, Meijer, Aldi, and Dollar Tree, to find the best value on some very basic necessities... Rea

Welp, one week of Project Pocketwatch, my year of needs-based spending, is under my belt.  It was super easy… of course anything is easy when you’re only doing it for a week.  Don’t worry.  I’m not getting cocky over here. I’m simply admitting there weren’t too many moments that popped up throughout the week that made me want to swipe my debit card.
