Cleveland Home Runs were the story of the game for Justin Verlander and the Tigers. Indians hitters cracked off three home runs, in as many innings, to start the game. Seven nothing was the score, before the Tigers tacked on three runs in the 4th. The Indians weren’t done with Verlander, however. A single from Santana scored two in the 5th. The Tigers trailed 9-4.

Cabrera and Upton tacked on two runs in the 7th.  They would go on to load the bases, before McCann lined out to second, closing the inning. Anibal Sanchez took over for Tigers pitching in the 6th. He was strong thru two, but the Indians broke through again in the 8th with a three run home run from Ramirez. A single would score one more run, making it 13-6. That’s where the scoring would stay. The Tigers fall to 7-4 on the season and are tied with the Twins for the lead in the AL Central.

Justin Verlander gave up a career-high nine earned runs in five  innings. He walked one and had four strike outs.

The Tigers look to take the series from the Indians, Sunday afternoon, before heading to Tampa Bay, Tuesday night. Matthew Boyd will take the mound for the Tigers on Sunday, while Cleveland counters with Carlos Carrasco. Coverage begins at 12:45 on 95.3 WBCK.
