An Ode to A Klingon (Kalamazoo's Own Stephen Carver)

by Stefani Bishop

A change upon the wind was felt,

Last fall among the crew

Of The Civic, the volunteers,

And everyone they knew.

It seemed a strange thing, truly;

The changing of the guard.

What would this mean to many?

What would be in the cards?

And then a man named Carver

Proclaimed a new frontier,

Not a final one, you see,

But one he saw so clear.

Great voyages and enterprise

For all of you to see,

Continuing the mission

Of highest quality.

New plays, new worlds,

New civilizations,

Boldly leading, as he goes,

Without intimidation.

So join me in the welcoming

Of a new Exec. Direct.

A man who’s resume, it seems,

Boasts more than you expect.

Borg? A Borjan? A Klingon? No way!

The Zoo is nerdily impressed at this news today!

So, Stephen Carver, listen up

For we have some words for you:

Don’t be embarrassed as we say

“nugneH” and “pe'el” to you!

Also... enjoy Klingon Hamlet.
