Lucio Fulci is the king of all things that go splat in Italy.  Zombie really put Fulci on the map (at least here in America) as the king of Italian splatter.  Everything that Fulci did on Zombie went a step further with The Beyond.  If you're a gorehound, and haven't seen (or heard of) The Beyond, then please, continuing reading...

Incredibly surreal and visceral, The Beyond is the tale of a young woman who inherits a hotel in Louisiana.  Oh, and did I mention, this hotel is located on one of the seven doorways to hell?  Yeah, I got your attention there, didn't I?  And being a Fulci film, The Beyond doesn't skimp on the blood and guts.  No one directs an eye gouging quite like Lucio, and The Beyond has some great eye gouging, acid eating away at people's faces, exploding heads, spiders eating people, and tons of zombies.  If you're a gorehound and you haven't seen The Beyond, then I command you stop what you're doing and seek this masterpiece out!

The movie is very surreal, and often times, things don't even make sense.  But hey, we don't want Fulci films for the plots; we watch them for the buckets of blood!  Do you watch a porno expecting great acting?  Same rules apply here.  Now, just because there are times when the film doesn't make sense, doesn't mean that it's bad or boring.  I think The Beyond is one of Fulci's finest works, and many people consider it his masterpiece.
