Vampires really don't get the love they deserve.  And I say that because there are a lot of really awful vampire films out there.  Take Twilight for example.  What the hell is this "glittering in the sunlight" bullsh*t?  Vampires shouldn't be loved by teenagers, they should be feared!  Vampires are creatures of the night who feed on the living and infect small towns with their evil seeds!  And the best example of this is Fright Night.

Charley Brewster suspects that is new neighbor is a vampire, and of course, no one believes him.  He even goes as far as enlisting the help of "veteran vampire hunter", Peter Vincent (played by Roddy McDowall).   Charley's vampire neighbor, Jerry Dandrige (played by Prince Humperdink himself, Chris Sarandon), starts to slowly turn the town into vampires, starting with Charley's best pal, Evil Ed.  Now, all vampire movies have some sort of love angle where the vampire falls in love with a human who reminds him of a past love.  Fright Night has that, but it's not your traditional vampire love story.  Charley has to save his girlfriend from Jerry so she doesn't turn into a creature of the night.

Jerry Dandrige is one of my favorite vampires.  He's suave when he lures an innocent victim back to his lair, and sinister when it's time to feed.  Now that I think of it, after Gary Oldman's Dracula, he might be my favorite vampire...Fright Night is a great Halloween movie and it's a cut above the majority of vampire trash that Hollywood's produced over the years.  If Fright Night is a film that's escaped you, watch it on Friday night.  Your master commands it.
