At 4:38 AM this morning (1/31/19) Kalamazoo was the coldest it's been since 1899.

Jeff Porter from WWMT Channel 3 just told me (as I am writing this) we are currently at -16.  Kalamazoo's cold temp record took place in 1899 at a bone chilling -15.

Breaking records can be exciting.  However, it is dangerously cold out there.  Wind chills are hovering around -35 to -40.  The wind chill warning has been extended to 7PM this evening.  With the possibility of wind chills dipping as low as -45 Jeff reminds us,

...UNDER 10 MINUTES FOR FROSTBITE OR HYPOTHERMIA, DON'T FORGET YOUR PETS.

Here's a wind chill map provided to us from WWMT Channel 3's Jeff Porter as of 5:07 AM.

This current temperatures map from 6:08 AM shows Kalamazoo taking that record temp even lower!

Look on the bright side.  It's going to be 51 on Monday.  Yeah, insert Michigan weather cliche here.
