Who Should Rock Ribfest 2014? Vote Now

WRKR and Townsquare Media have chosen the top four bands for Rock Your Vote Ribfest 2014. We were very excited with the amount of submission there were!  Now it’s time for our listening audiences to vote for their favorite!  The winning band will be opening for Hair Mania and headliner Dennis DeYoung: The Music of Styx during the Friday night show August 8.

Below are the bands and their video submissions.  Take a listen to each before you Rock Your Vote.

We Know Jackson

This jazz-pop trio, fronted by boy-band-ready Chris Janowiak, has been around in Southwest Michigan for several years. With fast fingers, a velvet voice, and a piano bench you’ll hardly ever find him sitting, is Chris Janowiak on keyboards and lead vocals. Providing the low-end foundation, making you wonder if there is hair under that hat and putting the music in your soul on the electric bass is Henry Rensch. Bringing you to the dance floor (or at least making you shimmy in your seat) and layin’ down the beats behind the drum kit is Andrew Lindberg. Both Henry and Andrew add a sound unmatched by any other group with their clever backing vocals. Due to this eclectic blend of influences, there is always a fresh and exciting spontaneity to their music.

Two Hand Touch

Two Hand Touch is a four piece band based out of Kalamazoo, raised in the local rock scene. They’ve all been members in other bands (including Kalamazoo local legends Casey Jones and the Beat Down and Doublestuffed) but felt we just hadn’t gotten it just right yet.   Dave, the drummer, went on a mission to recruit a who’s who from previous bands to end up with the product that is now called Two Hand Touch.

Rooted in classic and new rock, mixed with pop sensibility, and addicted to the vibe of a good time, Two Hand Touch s is looking to spend their days and nights with you, providing the soundtrack to your party on the lake,  the bonfire in the woods, or the downtown festival of the summer!

Big Man Little Band

Big Man Little Band is a blues rock mixture. A five piece set out of Plainwell Michigan, BMLB comes hard with shredding guitar licks and deep rooted lyrical content. With Big lungs and Big sound this band is bringing the sounds of yesterday and mixing them with today.

Fox

John, Chris, and Carman are all from Kalamazoo, Michigan. This trio makes up the riff-rock and blues-rock band known as Fox.   Each went to the same middle school and high school, where they found fellowship through being socially awkward together. Combining their powers of music the lot decided it would make them much cooler if they played instruments, thus forming their band Fox.

Vote below and Monday, August 3 WRKR will announce the winner!
