Former Tigers Catcher, free agent James McCann is set to sign with the Chicago White Sox.

According to MLB Trade Rumors dot com,  McCann will sign a one year deal with the White Sox.  He will stay in the American League Central and could be the back up to Welington Castillo.

McCann has spent his entire career with the Tigers.  The team non tendered him making him a free agent this off season.

Tigers fans will remember him for his nickname, "The McCannon".  He was known for his arm and throwing out base runners as a catcher in Detroit.

His offense declined last year leading to the Tigers to move on to other players this next season.

Currently the Tigers have Grayson Greiner and John Hicks as the current catching duo in Detroit.  This could change as moves may still happen before the start of the regular season in March.
