Probably the worst thing you can experience as a parent is the sickening feeling of having a child who has gone missing or has been kidnapped. Fortunately, for some parents, the children are returned home safely, but in 2023 Ohio experienced with the New York Post reported as an extraordinary surge, when more than 1000 kids had reportedly gone missing by September alone.

As they pointed out, the beginning of the year set off alarms that it was going to be a bad year for missing children:

The disappearances are creating a disturbing trend in northern Ohio, which began in May, when nearly 30 children went missing in just the first two weeks. Officials at the time called it an “extraordinary surge” in disappearances.

John Majoy, president of Cleveland Missing and the police chief of Newburgh Heights, said he has not seen such high numbers of missing children before in his 33-year career:

For some reason, in 2023, we’ve seen a lot more than we normally see, which is troubling in part because we don’t know what’s going on with some of these kids whether they’re being trafficked or whether they’re involved in gang activity or drugs.

Some children have not been featured on the list below because their profile pictures were not made available through the government site, however, you can click this link here and it will take you to a full list of children who have gone missing, not only in 2024, but are still considered missing from prior years as well.
