Outdoor Hockey in California

I mentioned this a few weeks back after the Winter Classic between the Red Wings and Maple Leafs but the NHL has scheduled more outdoor games here this month and one of those will be in Los Angeles in Dodgers stadium.

The novelty of this is a game outdoors in California which will be interesting but they also plan to have a beach volleyball court and a roller hockey rink built alongside the ice inside Dodger Stadium.  I think this  whole set up takes away all the NHL built up with all the previous Winter Classics and will turn the annual game into a joke.  They did it right at the recent game in Ann Arbor, Hopefully this will be a one time thing just to jump start the hockey interest on the west coast.  The outdoor games should just be the Winter Classic where it happens to be and the game they do every year in Canada.  They've built up the tradition keep it that way.  To see what this set up will look like click this link.
