Growing up in Rochester Hills, there was never a shortage of things to do. We had places like Four Bears Waterpark and tons of different playgrounds to keep us busy. But nestled in the industrial complexes of S. Livernois Rd. there were a couple of places that were the go-to hang-out spots for teenagers.

One of the more notable and long-standing of those places was the Rochester roller rink. This was the perfect place to drop the kids off so you could run out and get some errands done and give kids time to socialize with their schoolmates. But there is one other Lesser known place that if you were lucky enough to have been a part of or visited you remember just how amazing it was. The place was called the Rec Room and was originally located at 1800 South Livernois Rd.

This place pretty much had everything from a mini skateboarding park, a zip line, Mini tabletop games, areas to play all sports, and a bunch of video game systems to play as well. This place was the ultimate hang-out if you were a kid in the 90s and was almost like a camp for some people. The best part was that it was a perfect place for kids of all ages.

I remember being dropped off at this place quite a few times, and never wanting to go because of how much fun we were having. It’s a shame places like this don’t exist, but the special time in Rochester Hills' history needed to be documented, and the pictures below were just some that were taken from their Rec Room tribute page on Facebook.
