Yesterday my wife and I were lucky enough to attend the 2018 Stars & Stripes Showdown in Plymouth. A game played in honor of former USA hockey executive Jim Johansson.

The game featured many American born hockey stars including Patrick Kane, Austin Matthews, Zach Parise, Seth Jones, James Van Riemsdyk and many more.  A few Red Wings also played in the game including Dylan Larkin, Jimmy Howard, Justin Abdelkader and Luke Glendening.

Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill and former assistant coach/current coach of Wisconsin, Tony Granato coached team white.   Team blue was coached by John Hynes of the New Jersey Devils and David Quinn of the New York Rangers.

It was an all star game with plenty of scoring and many players showing off their skills  all for a great cause, the Jim Johansson fund and his daughter Ellie's college fund.

There was also an online auction going on that featured all sorts of signed items from many of the players in the game and tickets to preseason games and the Winter Classic.

The final score of the game was 14-9.

I am glad I had a chance to be at this game I am curious to see if they will do something like this again.  If it does take place again next summer I will do my best to be there.
