Over the years I've been honored on several occasions to host the annual gathering commemorating the the 9/11 attacks.  Every year we assemble in Bronson Park and are reminded by so many notable people that we must never forget and never become complacent.  This year, however, the ceremonies are moving to a new location as the construction in Bronson Park continues.

This year the service of remembrance will be held at Valley Family Church 2500 Vincent Ave just west of Oakland and I-94 at 5:30pm.  Wood TV 8's Terri Deboer will be the emcee with and the featured speaker will be Dr. L. Marshall Washington president of Kalamazoo Community College.  As has been the case in previous years, there will be many first responders including a color guard and 21 gun salute.  Musical numbers will fill the air and the angelic voice of my long-time friend Grace Kalafut will be featured on some selections.  I consider this an important part of our community and hope many will come out to show their unity.  For more information contact lorencewenke@aol.com or call 269-760-3595
