On Christmas Eve, don't forget to put our Santa's favorite treats from the Mitten State

Every family has some sort of tradition that they hold dear during the holidays. In my home we would sprinkle glitter and oats on the front lawn to attract Santa's Reindeer.

We would also leave out Christmas cookies and milk for Santa with a few carrots for his deer.

Recently, House Method surveyed more than 4,500 Americans from each state throughout November to try and pinpoint which Christmas cookie is king.

Based on the results, Michigan’s favorite Christmas cookie is the classic sugar cookie with frosting, a selection that also proved to be the most popular nationwide with 21 states picking it as its favorite. Here are the other States that agree with Michigan's choice for Mr. Claus...

  • Colorado
  • Florida
  • Idaho
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Kentuck
  • Maine
  • Missouri
  • Montana
  • Nebraska
  • New Mexico
  • Ohio
  • Oklahoma
  • South Dakota
  • Tennessee
  • Washington
  • Wisconsin
  • Wyoming

The classic Chocolate Chip Cookie, came in second place winning over 18 states. Then filling out the rest of the list is snickerdoodle, gingersnap, and shortbread.

What sweet treat are you going to leave out for the big guy?
