The coronavirus is having a worldwide impact on the sports world.Late Wednesday night the NBA announced that they were cancelling the remainder of their season, and now the Big 10, SEC, and American basketball tournaments have all been cancelled.

Broadcasters on site had already began their pre-show broadcasts when they were informed of the cancellation.

Michigan State University head coach Tom Izzo spoke the the Dan Patrick Show on Thursday, saying that he thought that the tournament, which is being held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis should either be postponed or cancelled altogether.

The announcement of the tournaments cancellation came just minutes before the University of Michigan was set to play against Rutgers.

In a statement, the Big Ten Conference said that they will be using this time to work with medical experts and institutional leadership to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the COVID-19 pandemic."

They also stated that their main priority is the health, safety and well-being of student-athletes, coaches, administrators, fans and media.
