It's all part of a park stewardship program that's planted over 1,000 trees throughout Michigan parks this year.

2019 marks the centennial anniversary of our state parks and to celebrate, the state has teamed up with Bob Ross, Inc. for Happy Little Trees. They've renamed the state's prison grow program where inmates grow saplings that are then planted in state parks.

They reached out to Bob Ross, Inc. and asked if they could use the "happy little trees" moniker and they were thrilled. You can even get t-shirts made.

So you may see some "happy little trees" signs popping up at Port Crescent State Park, Orchard Beach State Park and Yankee Springs Recreation Area. More signs are planned for Ludington State Park, Warren Dunes State Park, and Sleeper State Parks.
