Unfortunate news out of Battle Creek as another local business has closed, only for a new business to take its place. There are officially new owners of Captain Luey's Calabash Seafood, and they'll be ushering their own food and a new name, as recently announced by Captain Luey's through their Facebook post.

Sadly, the closure has already taken place and there's no time to give them a proper goodbye in-store:

For personal reasons, Captain Luey's has permanently closed and new owners have bought the restaurant. Thank you to all of our countless guests who have visited us over the years, it was truly appreciated and a pleasure serving our cuisine to you. A new and exciting restaurant is coming to Battle Creek soon and we wish much success to the new owners in their venture. THANK YOU!

Community Reaction

This caught a lot of people by surprise as their Hush Puppies and Catfish Dinners were especially popular, as hundreds of people have already reacted to the news:

One of the truly unique restaurants in BC. I hope the future is bright for the new owners.

People will be no doubt waiting to see what will take this staple restaurant's place in the community:

FIRST VOLCANO’S PIZZA!!!! NOW THIS!!!! I just can’t take this anymore. If something happens to sir pizza, I’m gonna lose it

As unfortunate as the news is, at least we can hope the new owners have some success in the area and hope Captain Luey's owners also have success in their next journey.
