Cute: Kate Upton’s Daughter Thinks Daddy is a Golfer
I don't know if former Detroit Tiger Justin Verlander is going through an identity crisis or is simply watching too much golf while rehabbing his elbow from Tommy John surgery, but his wife, St. Joseph native Kate Upton told a cute story on Jimmy Fallon the other night.
(The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon via YouTube)
The ever giggly Fallon asked how the family was doing, and Upton said Verlander is a great dad to daughter Genevieve, very involved in her life. But Verlander has not been able to do what he does best since the injury last season, and their daughter has no memories of daddy as a baseball pitcher. Justin has been showing her video highlights of his career, but that isn't quite registering with the little girl. The family was watching The Masters Championship earlier this month, and 2 year old Genevieve, pointed at the golfers and said "Daddy, Daddy." Upton then corrected her, joking that "that's not daddy. He's not that good."
For the record, Verlander is a sure-bet first ballot Hall of Famer, and does have a World Series ring with the Houston Astros (though due to a cheating scandal, that championship is tarnished).
Upton also talked about the newest addition to their family, a pup named Norman, who Upton says, it may not come out correctly, but the dog maybe more work than a new born, explaining "you can put diapers on a baby."
