ABANDONED MICHIGAN: Inside Fisher Body Plant #21
WARNING: Under no circumstances should you enter this property. By doing so you risk bodily harm and/or prosecution for trespassing on private property.
The Fisher Body Plant #21 was constructed in 1919 as part of the Fisher Body complex.
The company was formed in 1908 by Albert, Charles, and Fred Fisher, manufacturing bodies for autos and carriages.....they stopped the carriage line in 1911.
Toward the end of 1982, General Motors announced the impending closing of Plant #21; their last day was April 1, 1984.
The site was left extremely contaminated, thanks to over sixty years of industrial processes and wastes.
Even though their have been attempts to renovate, the Environmental Protection Agency says the old plant is still contaminated. The front of the building on Harper Avenue has been fixed up and is being used as an auto impound lot.
Below are some pictures of the old plant, taken in 2017.
