Foo Fighters Guitarist Chris Shiflett to Release Solo Album ‘West Coast Town’ in April
With Foo Fighters taking some time off, guitarist Chris Shiflett spent some time last summer recording his third solo album. West Coast Town will be released April 14.
He recorded the country-flavored disc in Nashville with Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson). Shiflett spoke with Rolling Stone about the genesis of West Coast Town's title track, which you can listen to here.
"I wrote 'West Coast Town' about growing up in Santa Barbara in the Seventies and Eighties and what that felt like to me," Shiflett says. "The demo version had a completely different groove, but Cobb flipped it on its head and took it further out west, more Californian. I’m glad he did."
Shiflett will be touring in support of the album. The trek launches March 21 in Portland, Ore. Check out the dates below. The busy Shiflett is also a member of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes and hosts the podcast Walking the Floor with Chris Shiflett.
As for Foo Fighters, their only current U.S. date of 2017 is headlining the Bottle Rock Festival in Napa Valley, Calif. in May. They reportedly plan to be in the studio this year recording a new album.
