The road to reopening continues in Southwest Michigan and downtown Kalamazoo as a local favorite gets back to serving up exquisite food and inventive cocktails.

Fuze Kitchen & Bar has been closed since March, and now is reopening with more outdoor seating in Bates Alley. It's all part of an initiative to jump start the local economy after almost half of downtown Kalamazoo businesses reported losing 75% of their revenue due to Coronavirus.

The Outdoor Experience is a plan for expanded restaurant and retail space "to ensure businesses have the greatest ability to operate successfully during the COVID-19 economic recovery." It provides room for more tables, tents, shops and retail space on sidewalks and in common spaces like Bates Alley and Haymarket Plaza. Rules have been a bit relaxed on outdoor liquor licenses, allowing restaurants like Fuze to reopen.

Fuze shared the news on social media that they are reopening for curbisde service, carry-out and expanded outdoor seating. New, expanded cleaning protocols have been established for safety reasons and will be followed. One a more exciting note, the time off has prompted ideas for some new menu items that we can't wait to get a taste of.
