A few months ago, a Kalamazoo teenager popped up on my radar when she opened up her own dessert shop in the Edison neighborhood with the help of her mother. Layla Wallace had been baking since before she hit double digits, and she was finally able to make her dream of opening her own confectionary a reality. Layla's Cool Pops is at 1336 Portage Street between Stockbridge and Washington Avenues. If that seems a little out of the way on your commute today, Miss Wallace is making it easier than ever to enjoy her creations on National Coffee Day.

According to a Facebook post from the Sprinkle Road Biggby location in Kalamazoo, you can enjoy a treat from Layla's Cool Pops at participating Biggby storefronts today only. Their post says, quote, "It was a treat getting to meet the makers behind the magic! Make sure you get one of Layla’s Maple Spice cupcakes before they sell out! We hear they taste just like a delicious pancake!"

According to a Facebook post from Layla's Cool Pops, you can sample her sweets at Biggby locations in Texas Corners, Kalamazoo, Schoolcraft, and Portage, quote, "I braved the cold so you could taste my Maple Spice cupcakes! (I don't like the cold! LOL) It's for a good cause and it's National Coffee Day. YAY! Donate $2 and receive a cupcake while supplies last!"

Layla's Cool Pops continues their mission as a non-profit that helps the homeless members of our community through donations.
