West Michigan favorite Ginger Zee is coming back "home" to broadcast during the Tulip Festival in Holland, Michigan.

You may remember Ginger Zee from her days at WOOD-TV8; now everyone knows her as chief meteorologist at ABC's Good Morning America. The Rockford, Michigan native is coming home to her roots and will be the grand marshal for the first parade, Wednesday, May 8 during Holland's Tulip Festival. The street-scrubbers, clad in traditional Dutch costumes clean the downtown streets at 1:30 with the parade stepping off at 2 pm.

It's fitting that she grew up to have a career in television, as her father named her after his favorite castaway on the TV show "Gilligan's Island." His Dutch heritage is a part of Ginger and all of us every May as klompen dancers layer on thick socks and wooden shoes to entertain visitors from around the country.

Hear Ginger Zee talk more about her Michigan life in the video below and, if you're going to Holland, remember, rule #1: Don't pick the flowers! It may actually be illegal to pick tulips in Holland.
